Fees & transfer costs
RemitBee publishes a funding-method fee table. Transfers above CAD 500 funded through Interac e-Transfer, EFT, or bill payment carry no displayed provider fee. Below CAD 500, those methods cost CAD 2.99. Debit-card fees scale from CAD 2.99 for small amounts to CAD 8.99-29.99 for larger transfers. Credit cards are not accepted for money transfers. RemitBee separately earns through a 0.3%-0.5% margin in its exchange rate.
XE says its send fee depends on the payment method, sending currency, and destination. For the Canada-to-India corridor, XE currently shows a CAD 1 fee on transfers under CAD 1,000 and CAD 0 above that amount. XE separately and explicitly states that it also makes money when converting currency through its quoted send rate. So a CAD 0 XE transfer fee does not mean the transfer has zero provider cost — the FX spread is a second revenue layer. XE also warns that credit-card issuers may levy their own cash-advance fees, and recipient or intermediary banks can deduct third-party charges.
Exchange rates & FX markup
RemitBee states that its exchange-rate margin is typically 0.3%-0.5%, depending on the destination. That published range provides a reasonable expectation of the FX cost before reaching checkout. The actual spread on a specific transfer can shift with corridor and market movement, so the checkout rate is always the binding number.
XE explicitly states that it makes money when converting currency. The send rate shown to customers is not the mid-market rate — it includes XE's conversion revenue. No universal markup percentage is published. An illustrative calculation against the Bank of Canada's September 11, 2026 daily INR average suggested an XE spread of approximately 0.49%, but that figure was calculated asynchronously and should not be treated as a definitive ongoing margin. The only reliable way to measure XE's actual spread on a given transfer is to compare the XE checkout rate against an independent mid-market reference captured at the same time. A transfer with a low or zero displayed fee can still deliver less money if the exchange-rate spread is wider. Always compare what the recipient actually receives for the same total sender spend.
Transfer speed
RemitBee says transfers can arrive from a few minutes to two business days, depending on the route and funding method. Interac e-Transfer deposits into RemitBee Balance typically arrive in about 15 minutes, while EFT funding can take up to two business days before the international portion begins. For supported routes, bank deposits commonly complete within 24 hours, and UPI payouts (where available) can be near-instant.
XE says card-funded transfers can arrive within minutes on eligible routes, and many transfers arrive the same day. EFT-funded transfers are slower — XE's dedicated Canadian EFT documentation says funding can take up to four business days to reach XE. That EFT page was last updated in March 2023, making it the latest authoritative EFT-specific source located but noticeably older than other XE material. Once XE has the funds, delivery timing depends on the destination and payout method.
Delivery options
Bank deposit is the primary payout method across RemitBee's 86 supported countries. Cash pickup and cash delivery are available in selected destinations. Some corridors support additional local methods, including UPI in India. Payout availability should be confirmed on the destination-specific page before each transfer.
XE supports bank deposit, cash pickup, and mobile-wallet delivery depending on the route. Cash-pickup recipients do not need a bank account — XE generates a PIN that the recipient presents at the selected payout location. XE's mobile-wallet directory covers providers across a wide range of countries, including networks in Bangladesh, China, and multiple African markets. For senders whose recipients rely on mobile money or need physical cash, XE provides options that RemitBee may not cover on those routes.
Corridors & coverage
RemitBee's Help Centre currently lists 86 countries for Canadian senders. Some marketing and app-store material references 100+ countries, but the Help Centre table is the more precise current source. A reconciled total of supported payout currencies was not located in current published material.
XE's current app-store listings advertise transfers to 190+ countries in 130+ currencies. Some older XE FAQ pages still reference 130+ countries and nearly 100 currencies, creating a first-party discrepancy. The 190+/130+ figures from the September 2026 app listings are the more current evidence. XE also has a substantially more developed mobile-wallet and cash-pickup network than RemitBee, making it relevant for destinations outside RemitBee's footprint or where non-bank delivery is needed.
App & user experience
RemitBee's apps (approximately 4.7/5 on the Canadian App Store from 5.3K ratings, approximately 4.3/5 on Google Play from 1.86K reviews, as of September 2026) support saved recipients, transfer tracking, biometric login, two-factor authentication, and email notifications. The scheduled recurring-transfer feature (weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, up to one year) is a clear differentiator for senders who make regular payments. RemitBee Balance holds CAD and USD with instant conversion between them.
XE's apps (approximately 4.8/5 on the Canadian App Store from 60K ratings, approximately 4.6/5 on Google Play from 399K reviews) cover transfers, rate alerts, tracking, and biometric login. XE also offers advanced FX products (particularly through its business/large-transfer offering), including forward contracts, limit orders, and mass-payment infrastructure. XE's personal multi-currency account feature exists but remains on limited release for Canadian users, so it should not be assumed available to every new account.
