Who are they best for?
PayPal's India restriction is the first and most important decision gate.
Anyone sending personal or family money from Canada to India (PayPal does not offer this route)
Senders who need Indian bank deposit or UPI delivery
People who want no provider fee on transfers of CAD 500+ through qualifying methods
Repeat senders who need automated weekly, biweekly, monthly, or quarterly transfers
Canadian businesses needing a dedicated transfer account with limits up to CAD 250,000/day
Best for PayPal
Canadians paying Indian sellers, freelancers, or exporters for legitimate goods and services
Online merchants who need PayPal's checkout and buyer-protection infrastructure
Businesses that need PayPal Payouts for mass international payments (156+ markets, 20+ currencies)
People who want to hold multi-currency balances and use credit-card funding for supported transactions
Anyone who needs the PayPal-owned consumer remittance product should use Xoom, not PayPal proper
Fees and transfer costs
RemitBee publishes a fee schedule for India; PayPal has no applicable personal-remittance fee because the route does not exist.
Transfers of CAD 500 or more funded through Interac e-Transfer, EFT, or bill payment carry no displayed provider fee. Below CAD 500, those methods cost CAD 2.99. Debit-card fees scale from CAD 2.99 to CAD 8.99–29.99. Credit cards are not accepted. RemitBee also earns through a 0.3%–0.5% margin in its exchange rate.
PayPal's Canadian fee schedule lists a CAD 4.99 international personal-payment fee (bank/balance) or CAD 4.99 + 2.90% + fixed fee (card) for other supported markets. But those rates cannot be applied to India because PayPal separately blocks personal payments to and from India. PayPal's India service charges the Indian recipient (seller) 4.40% + INR 3.00 on international commercial receipts — that is merchant/export pricing, not remittance pricing. PayPal's Canadian currency-conversion charge is a minimum 4.00% on personal-payment conversions, though again this cannot be applied to an India personal transfer that does not exist.
Exchange rates and FX markup
RemitBee discloses a margin; PayPal's conversion charge is structurally different and not applicable to India personal transfers.
RemitBee states its FX margin is typically 0.3%–0.5%, depending on destination. Its current converter showed 1 CAD = 67.235 INR. Against a same-day market reference of approximately 67.643 INR/CAD, this implies an estimated spread of approximately 0.60% — consistent with its published range.
PayPal's Canadian fee schedule lists a minimum 4.00% currency-conversion charge on personal payments. However, this rate cannot be applied to India because the personal payment route is unavailable. For commercial transactions where PayPal performs the conversion, the applicable rate depends on the transaction type and currencies involved. There is no PayPal personal India FX rate to compare against RemitBee.
Transfer speed
RemitBee delivers to India within hours; PayPal's India commercial settlement is a different process.
RemitBee says most India transfers complete within hours, with bank deposits to major Indian banks arriving within approximately 24 hours and UPI advertised as instant. Funding speed is separate — Interac takes about 15 minutes, while EFT can take 1–2 business days.
For India, PayPal's service is commercial payment receipt, not personal remittance. PayPal India automatically transfers eligible received commercial balances to the linked Indian bank account, which can take up to five business days. That is a merchant-settlement timeline, not a family-remittance delivery estimate. There is no PayPal personal India delivery speed to compare.
Delivery options
RemitBee supports IFSC-based Indian bank deposit and UPI using the recipient's UPI ID/VPA. Cash pickup and cash delivery are available in selected destinations. The recipient does not need a RemitBee account.
PayPal does not deliver personal payments to Indian bank accounts or UPI. Its India service requires the Indian recipient to have a PayPal account with verified identity, PAN, linked Indian bank, Purpose Code, and nature-of-business disclosure — compliance setup designed for commercial/export receipt, not family support. If you need the PayPal-owned product that delivers consumer remittances to India (including bank deposit, UPI, and cash pickup), that is Xoom — a separate service covered in a separate comparison.
Corridors and coverage
RemitBee's Help Centre lists 86 countries for Canadian senders. Marketing says 100+ countries. India is a core supported corridor with bank deposit and UPI.
PayPal Canada generally supports international account-to-account payments across a large global network. However, product availability is country-specific, and India's restriction overrides the generic international coverage. PayPal's developer currency reference lists roughly two dozen supported fiat currencies, but currency support is subject to country-level rules. A broad global PayPal footprint should not be interpreted as proof that Canada→India personal payments are supported.
App and user experience
RemitBee's apps (approximately 4.7/5 on the Canadian App Store from 5.3K ratings, as of October 2026) support transfers, tracking, biometric login, two-factor authentication, scheduled recurring transfers, and CAD/USD balance management. The app is built for international transfers as its primary function.
PayPal's apps (approximately 4.6/5 on the Canadian App Store from 159K ratings, approximately 4.2/5 on Google Play from 3.7M reviews) support payments to PayPal users, merchant checkout, payment requests, activity history, multi-currency balances, and business features. PayPal's Trustpilot score is 1.4/5 from 41,725 reviews — covering its entire global payments ecosystem, not India transfers specifically. The app ratings reflect a fundamentally different product and user base than RemitBee's.
