File Your Canadian Taxes Online for Free with RemitBee

Tax season is here, and we have news that might ease the stress (and save you real money).

RemitBee now offers free personal tax filing as a new feature for all users powered by the CRA-certified CloudTax. That means you can file your 2025 Canadian taxes directly in the RemitBee app, without creating separate accounts or extra passwords.

Here's what you get:

  • Free filing for most tax situations
  • CRA-certified filing through NETFILE
  • Step-by-step guidance in plain language
  • Premium upgrade is free for the first 250 users
  • Automatic slip import from CRA or AI-powered upload

The feature is live now on web, iOS, and Android.

Why are we making tax filing free for newcomers?

Many immigrants pay $150-400 to third-party preparers for returns that aren't complicated a T4, some deductions, maybe self-employment income. That's money leaving your pocket every year for something you could do yourself with the right guidance.

The problem runs deeper than cost. According to Statistics Canada, approximately 3 million Canadians don't file taxes each year, and immigrants who arrived within the past 10 years are even less likely to file.

South Asian immigrants have the highest percentage of non-filers and they also happen to be RemitBee's largest customer base.

We built this feature because our users deserve better.

What happens when you don't file?

Failing to file means missing out on money the government wants to give you:

  • GST/HST credit
  • Canada Child Benefit
  • Climate action rebates
  • Provincial benefits (depending on where you live)

These programs exist to help Canadians (especially newcomers) integrate financially. However, you can't access them without filing a return even if you owe nothing.

By removing the cost barrier, RemitBee estimates the potential to generate up to $50 million in savings for users on our platform while improving tax compliance rates within newcomer communities.

How does filing work inside RemitBee?

The process takes 15-20 minutes for a straightforward return. You don't need tax expertise the system asks questions in plain language and places your answers in the right spots.

Steps

  1. Open RemitBee and tap tax filing in Quick Actions
  2. Enter basic information (name, address, SIN)
  3. Import your tax slips
  4. Answer questions about deductions and credits
  5. Review and submit to CRA

Importing slips

Two options for bringing in your documents:

CRA Auto-fill

Connect your CRA My Account and import T4s, T5s, RRSP slips, and other documents automatically.

AI-powered upload

Photograph or upload PDFs of your slips, and the system extracts the data.

The AI upload works well if you don't have a CRA My Account yet (common for newer residents) or have slips that haven't appeared in the CRA system.
