Your account number, the country of origin of your bank, and other account details are contained in the IBAN code.
The banks use this code to ensure the legitimate receiver will receive the funds sent.
The transaction will fail if an IBAN is entered improperly and no account is associated with it. The bank completes the transfer if a similar account exists. Unfortunately, the bank must first contact the receivers, allowing the reversal.
To guarantee that legal IBANs are error-free, several banks use an IBAN checker, also known as an IBAN lookup.
