CAD was trading at 56.3521 against the Indian rupee at 11.33 GMT, which was lower compared to Tuesday’s rate of 56.3714. A week ago on August 19, CAD was at 56.76 against the Indian currency.
CAD was trading lower against the U.S. currency as well. CAD was at 0.7589 against the American dollar at 11.21 GMT, which was lower compared to Tuesday’s 0.7593. On August 19, CAD was at 0.7571 against the U.S. dollar.
Against the British pound, too, CAD was trading lower at 0.5771 at 11.19 GMT, which was lower than the Tuesday’s rate of 0.5775. A week ago on August 19, CAD was trading at 0.5772.
Indian stock indices, in the meanwhile, ended higher on Wednesday. They were tracking the gains in auto stocks in the wake of comments made by the Indian Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman. She had said that the GST (goods and services tax) Council might consider rate revision for two-wheelers.
At close, the Sensex ended 230 points higher at 39,073 while the Nifty-50 index ended at 11,550, up 77 points. The broader market outperformed the benchmarks yet again, with Nifty Mid-Cap100 and Nifty Small-Cap 100 indices closing higher by 0.55 per cent and 1.05 per cent, respectively.
