Food. It comes in so many shapes and sizes, tastes and textures, quantities and ethnicities! But COVID-19 pandemic has destroyed many, many things, and the dining industry, in particular, has been hit hard.
For those of us craving the delights of a cuisine we aren’t capable of cooking ourselves, here’s a list of Mexican restaurants in Toronto that are still operating delivery and take-out.
Playa Cabana is known as a relaxed spot for tacos & burritos, with housemade tortillas & salsa, plus delicious tequila-based cocktails, located on Dupont Street. They operate 12:00 to 9:00 PM, Tuesday to Sundays, and are currently only open for takeouts and delivery.
This Mexican restaurant’s menu is divided into four categories: Bocaditos (Snacks), Tres Tacos (Three Tacos), Burritos, and Especialidads de la Casa (House Specialities). Each of these menu categories are filled with yummy options, but we must highlight their house specialties, which include Huevos Rancheros, Chile Rellenos, Enchiladas Sulza, Carne Asada, Enmoladas, and Tostadas.

King’s Tacos is a casual Mexican eatery that features ample tables, a sizable menu of traditional meat, and vegetarian fare. Their slogan is “It’s Real Mexican. It’s Really Tasty.” And you can order directly from their site!
They’re open 12:00 to 8:00 PM most days, and stay open an hour longer on Fridays and Saturdays. Their restaurant is located at the corner of Dufferin and St. Clair Avenue West, right beside Hudson College.
On the menu at King’s Tacos you can find 10 different categories: Appetizers, Vegetarian, Soups & Salads, Tacos, Quesadillas & Wraps, Special Tacos, Gourmet, Parrilladas, King Kilos, and Beverages. Their King Kilos include Pastor (marinated pork), Carnitas (shredded pork), Chorizo (marinated pork and spices), Carne Asada (grilled sirloin), Arrachera (beef fillet), and classic Pollo (chicken breast).

Seven Lives Tacos y Mariscos is a cash-only taco restaurant located in the heart of Kensington Market. This taqueria will fix you up takeout or delivery of Baja-style tacos and a variety of different seafood. They operate everyday from 12:00 to 7:00 PM, and in addition to food they also sell shop merchandise!
Popular dishes from Seven Lives include their Baja Fish (fried haddock), Camarones a la Diabla (spicy shrimp and cheese), Gobernador (smoked marlin shrimp and cheese), Carnitas (braised pork shoulder), and their Pulpo a la Mexicana (grilled octopus).

Wilbur Mexicana is an apothecary-inspired counter serve Mexican restaurant that gives customers authentic Mexican street food. They currently serve takeout and delivery 11:30 AM and 9:30 PM, every day of the week. Many customers come away from this establishment content and well-fed, consistently mentioning the great service and delicious food.

They are especially famous for their nachos and music venue, and even have a “Dee-Sign a Dish” option.
Sneaky Dee’s lunch menu is available Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and their brunch is available Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Interestingly enough, their specials are only served daily from 4:00 PM to closing!
