Ramadan in Mississauga 2022

By Remitbee - Mar 7, 2022

It's that time of year again! Ramadan is already around the corner, and we know that many of you are wondering what to expect. Mississauga is home to some Islam followers, so we've put together a guide to help you make the most of this special month.

Whether you're new to Ramadan or have been celebrating for years, this guide will tell you what Ramadan is, when is Ramadan 2022, fasting timings, and all other information you need for this year's Ramadan celebration. So let's get started!

What is Ramadan, and why do Muslims observe it?

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and Muslims observe it as a time of fasting and prayer. The month is believed to be when God began revealing the Quran to Muhammad, so it is a great time of spiritual importance for Muslims.

Ramadan begins with the sighting of the new moon and lasts for 29 or 30 days. During this, Muslims are not allowed to drink or eat from sunrise to sunset. They also spend time in prayer and reflection.

Since Ramadan is grounded on the lunar calendar of Muslims, Ramadan timings may differ from one place to another.

Because the length of the day varies by the corner of the world – not to mention the weather and climate – our Muslim brothers and sisters may require a heads-up on the time frame from time to time. As a result, the Muslim community provides regular timings every year; however, this is not strictly adhered to.

In Muslim-majority countries, businesses may reduce their operating hours during Ramadan. In Mississauga, many Muslims usually come together at mosques throughout the city to break their fast each evening. To end Ramadan, Muslims celebrate with a three-day festival called Eid al-Fitr.

During Ramadan, Muslims focus on their relationship with God and become more pious. They also focus on giving to charity and helping those in need. Ramadan is a time to reset and reflect on their lives for many Muslims. It is a time for self-improvement and growth. If you know someone observing Ramadan, be respectful of their religious beliefs and practices. Wishing them a blessed Ramadan is always appreciated!

When is Ramadan 2022?

Whether you are already in the country or planning to be there during Ramadan, you need to know when Ramadan 2022 is in Canada. For our Islam brothers and sisters in Mississauga, the Ramadan celebration will start on April 2 and will end on the 2nd day of May.

The first meal of the day is taken around 4 AM, after which fasting will start. Dhuhr is around noon, while Asr is at 4 PM. And Iftar Mississauga will begin at around 8 PM.

You can check out several Muslim community websites for guides in the exact timings. Although those proposed timings are not strictly followed, it will still be best to be guided when you start prayers or fastings.

The weather in Canada is one of the most significant considerations throughout Ramadan. As a result, you must make additional preparations and adjustments during fasting timings. In fact, the April weather forecast in Canada predicts temperatures ranging from 7 to -1 degrees Celsius. So anticipate snow and rain in the first month of Ramadan, with only 8 hours of sunlight.

The weather may be a little nicer in May, with temperatures ranging from 6 to 16 degrees Celsius. But daytime will last around 10 hours or more, expect a slightly more extended fasting period.
